On December 12th,
2018 I got the wild idea to finally register for the New York City Marathon.
It's been a lifelong goal of mine and I decided to just full send and go for it!
What better time than now?
I decided to run on behalf of Team for Kids for the New York Road Runner's
Association youth programs. Which is a really fancy way of saying, I'm running
for an organization that funds youth programs across the country. Since 2002,
Team for Kids members have raised more than $57 million for New York Road
Runners youth programs, but more importantly they've helped over 267,000 kids
get involved in athletic programs through school and community centers across
the nation.
When I look back on my own childhood, some of my fondest memories come from
being involved in sports and athletic programs. While running as a kid was
generally a punishment in sports (hill sprints I'm looking at you), I think
there's something to be said for the development that takes place in physical
activity. It fosters goal setting, self discipline, team work, and accountability; all of
which are tremendously valuable skills to carry into adulthood. On top of that, some of my best friends, and greatest mentors were people I met through athletics. They helped me grow and develop into the person I am today and I firmly believe that every child deserves the opportunity to experience that.
So let me help you accomplish your 2019 resolutions and make it super easy to
contribute and give back to a cause I think we can all get behind. I would
consider it a personal favor if you made a donation. Any amount is immensely
appreciated. Thank you so much!
Love,
Sarah
